Pal Arinsal is committed to sustainable development and systematically works to improve the three fundamental pillars of development in the social, economic and environmental spheres. We know that major events consume energy and resources and that they have an impact on our environment. As the Organising Committee, we have very specific challenges. It is thus vitally important to act and to do so in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

This commitment to the environment is carried out in all activities through ISO14001:2015 certification, which has been in place in all departments and events since 2004.

Objective: zero waste

To meet this challenge, a precise roadmap has also been defined.

We want to make sure that our mountains stay clean. To this end, our message is clear: taking care of our mountains is everyone's responsibility.

  • Specific collection points for generated waste
  • Points in the most crowded areas reinforced with bins for waste, plastic and paper.
  • Use of advertising and route signage that is less harmful to the environment and which is made using more ecological and reusable material.
  • Radical decrease in the use of plastic signage.
  • Monitoring of the condition of the circuits by the teams
  • Complete cleaning of the event area once it is ends.

Fighting climate change

Managing emissions is a vital job for the organization. The joint work of the organizers and partner companies aims to reduce the footprint of the activities.

  • Decarbonizing the event: Learning more about our impact and knowing where and how to act accordingly.
  • Compensation for the remaining emissions with national projects and the United Nations platform.
  • Renewable energy. 100% of the energy used during the event is 33% self-produced, and the rest comes from the purchase of 100% hydroelectric energy certified by Llum Verda.
  • Selecting responsible suppliers.

Locally-sourced products

The commitment to low-carbon and local cuisine is key to the gastronomic strategy of the World Championships. The organisation prioritises Andorran agricultural and artisanal products as well as the country's livestock farmers.

Accessibility and social impact in the region

This is a vital aspect for the organization. We want everyone to be able to experience the event without limitations. Accessibility not only benefits people with functional or sensory disabilities, but also improves the experience of all attendees.

Inclusive website design.
This means having an accessible website for visitors with specific navigation needs within the corporate website.

Trained volunteer program

Integrating the events in the fabric of the country

That the children and young people of the country enjoy and experience the event as close as possible to the riders. They will be the ones who will run the organisation in the future.

REMEMBER...

Respect for the Environment
Use the already-existing trails? Take your rubbish with you.

Avoid single-use packaging
Minimise wrapping; use canteens and lunch boxes.

Take public transport
For short journeys, get around on foot or by bicycle.

Specific waste collection
If you generate any waste, take it to the specific collection points. The best waste is the kind that isn't generated in the first place.

Social Impact in the community

Bikes to transform lives

Going to school is not equally easy and accessible for everyone. Especially in Africa, many children and teenagers have to walk long distances to reach their classes, arriving tired and with little ability to concentrate, unless they have a bicycle! That’s why, from Bicicletas sin Fronteras, they have created a school transport system using bicycles that has already benefited over 9,000 secondary students in Senegal.

With €240, you can provide a bicycle to a student for the entire school year. You can make this possible by making a donation here, and from Pal Arinsal, we will match the amount, doubling our collective solidarity!
